December carries its own kind of magic: soft lights, familiar songs that ignite memories, the feeling of something special about these days. But it can also be heavy, busy, expensive and emotional.
A month where our hearts try to keep up with our calendars… and often, we feel like we fall behind.
So this year, I invite you to walk through December differently—with me.
Not with pressure, but with presence.
Not with exhaustion, but with intention.
Not with overwhelm, but with light.
The Power of Saying No
December days and nights fills quickly. Invitations, gatherings, expectations, “just one more thing” and suddenly there’s no space left to just…enjoy.
We are allowed to say no.
We are allowed to protect our energy.
We are allowed to honour our time and our needs without guilt.

Every “no” we offer is really a “yes” to peace…to rest…to the parts of us that need softness.
Feeding Your Energy With Love
What we put into our bodies affects our energy. December tends to pull us toward sugar, skipping meals, rushing, and running on empty or overeating.
But your body deserves fuel to stay balanced. Remember to eat in ways that help your light remain steady rather than flickering under the weight of stress. Also, enjoy the food set out in front of you; keeping a balance shouldn’t entail torture.
Keeping Yourself From Overwhelm
Self-care in December doesn’t have to be big or grand. Often it’s the smallest choices that keep us grounded:
- Five slow breaths before you walk out the door—remember to drop your shoulders.
- A cup of coffee or tea in silence—focus on right now and not on the list. Breathe.
- Turning off your phone for a little while and when you do turn it back on, play some uplifting music that you want to listen to.
- Asking for help instead of doing it alone.
- Talk to someone when you’re feeling out of sorts, someone you trust who won’t try to fix you, but rather, just hear you. And remember to be that for someone too.
- Be kind and allow that kindness to ripple out.
- Create one evening each week that is sacred to your own time whether that’s rest or a movie night.
- Do things at a gentle pace instead of rushing to the next moment.
These small acts are necessary. They are how we keep our hearts open instead of overwhelmed.
Finding the Magic Again
I heard someone once say, “December isn’t meant to be performed. It’s meant to be felt.” Wow—full stop.
Let yourself notice the glow of lights.
Let yourself hear the laughter at your table.
Let yourself rest under a warm blanket without guilt.
Let yourself slow down long enough to experience the moments that matter.
Let yourself enjoy that cheesy Christmas movie.
Magic is always there.
It just becomes easier to see when we stop rushing through and let ourselves simply be human.
A Season of Light, Softness, and Choosing Yourself
As you move through this month, may you choose what brings you peace.
May you spend your energy wisely.
May you nourish your body gently.
May your boundaries reflect your worth.
May your breath stay steady and your heart stay open.
December doesn’t need you to do more; it just needs you to be you in your truth, tenderness and in your Light.
And may that light guide you all the way into the new year.
