“Do No Harm.”

This is a phrase I have heard many times from spiritual mediums…the ethical ones. The ones I work with, learn from and get mentored by. Our job as communicators for Spirit is to do no harm.

And it matters. This is sacred work, speaking for Spirit in the most beautiful and ethical way we can.

It is an honour that we must respect.

Yet, not all mediums follow this sacred principle…and that truly breaks my heart.

The importance of ethical mediumship

A while ago, I came into contact with a medium who spoke very highly of herself. She shared how great she was, how long her waitlist was, and all of her success.

And while that may be true…something she said really bothered me.

She shared that sometimes people come to her, and their loved ones in Spirit do not come through, she cannot make a connection. This happens.

BUT she tells the person in front of her their loved one in Spirit does not want to speak to them.

Oh my gosh.

She doesn’t explain how the connection works, why that day may not be working well. That person who came to her and was excited, nervous, antsy heard, “Your loved one doesn’t want to talk to you.”

Harm was done.

I want to be very clear about this.

The only reason a medium may not be able to make a strong connection is not because your loved one does not want to communicate…

it’s because the connection, for whatever reason, is not coming through clearly in that moment.

That is not on your loved one.

If I had ever been told that my daughter Ruby did not want to speak to me, it would have broken me in ways that could have damaged me beyond damage.

Choose mediums with strong ethical foundations

An ethical medium lives by the principle: do no harm.

Our loved ones in Spirit want us to know they are still here.

They want to bring love, reassurance, and connection. They want us to know they have not left us…they have only changed form. Their light still shines.

If you ever come across someone who tells you that your loved one does not want to communicate with you, please know that is not a loving or ethical message. And that is not someone who works for Spirit. That is someone who works for Ego.

That causes harm.

To you and to the memory and love of your loved one.

I will say again and again and again….this work is sacred.

Mediums who walk this path with integrity hold it with deep respect, proper training, and strong ethical foundations.

It is so important to know who you are sitting with.

Read their reviews. Understand their training. And, most importantly, feel into whether they are aligned with love.

We all have intuitive abilities. But stepping into mediumship, and representing the Spirit world, asks for responsibility, humility, and care.

Please know you are loved. So loved.
